About us

The Adirondack High Peaks Dog Training Club is a not-for-profit organization formed by local dog owners and dog-training enthusiasts. Located in Saranac Lake, NY, the Club is run exclusively by dedicated volunteers.

The club offers various levels of class instruction to its members and to dog owners in the community–focusing on family pet relationships, socialization, health, and education.

Classes are available for those wishing to teach their puppy or dog good manners around the house and yard. Higher-level classes are available for people interested in formal showing and/or working toward obedience and other performance titles.

AHPDTC history

Chartered in 1988 with 25 members, the AHPDTC has been active for 31 years and is currently made up of about 70 members.

Our classes are taught by club members on a volunteer basis. Club members also train and participate with their dogs in various competitions such as obedience, rally, agility, therapy work, field & hunting, herding, and breed championships.

More than 150 member dogs have passes the AKC Canine Good Citizen test. Many of them have also met the requirements for Therapy Dog International.
